BIGSAS and ALA 2015

The 41st Annual Conference of the African Literature Association (ALA) was held on 2-6 June 2015 at the University of Bayreuth, under the auspices of the of the Bayreuth Academy of Advanced African Studies and convened by Prof. Dr. Susan Arndt, Prof. Dr. Ute Fendler and Nadja Ofuatey-Alazard, Dipl. Journ. In cooperation with the ALA conference, Bayreuth hosted the 5th edition of the BIGSAS Literature Festival, with the aim of celebrating African and African-diasporic imaginations and in(ter)ventions on “Future Africa and Beyond. Visions in Transition”. The ALA conference together with the BIGSAS Literature Festival had two distinguished guests of Honor: Dr. hc Wole Soyinka (ALA) and Ama Ata Aidoo (BIGSAS Literature Festival).
